Automated gates provide peace-of-mind and convenience but the benefits can be undermined if maintenance is neglected. Regular servicing is vital to ensure any gate system continues to operate reliably and safely. Our vast experience of automated gate systems has enabled us to develop a 30-point check-list that both prepares the gates for the rigours of use and identifies key areas that are likely to cause failure.
Every gate system is different and the demands vary from one site to another. Lifestyle Gates will provide a maintenance schedule appropriate for your circumstances and equipment, whether that be a full contract with scheduled visits for a commercial property or a yearly reminder that a service is due for a private residential owner. The result should be the same in any circumstance, a safe reliable electric gate system.
Automated gates are complex machines and on occasion will need repair to correct for general wear, accident damage or misuse. Our vast experience allows us to fault diagnose all types of automated gate systems in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Our team of field-service engineers are not only skilled but equipped with a mobile workshop that enables repairs on electronic systems, metal fabrications, groundwork and much more. Our aim is to always affect a repair on our first visit if possible. We know gates inside-out and take pride in our ability to help our customers get their system working quickly with minimal inconvenience.
Electric gate systems aren’t a closed book. Every installation is a combination of parts and components from multiple manufacturers that can be added to or adapted to suit your changing needs and to exploit advancements in technology. One of the most popular additions to a gate system is a second-generation GSM intercom that marries the security of an automated gate system with the flexibility of being able to control your gate from anywhere in the world.
Many well installed and maintained systems would have been in service from long before implementation of the current safety regulations put in place to prevent serious injuries caused by dangerous or poorly maintained gates. We provide a sympathetic approach to upgrading older systems to comply with modern standards.
Its important to look after your gates to ensure safe and reliable operation, and our Service Club has been created to do this to the highest standard.
As part of out annual Service Club, your benefits include:
When installed by a professional automated gate company an electric gate will be safe for all to use and will comply with regulations put in place to prevent injury. Electric gate risk assessments have become a major part of our operations and draw on not only our experience but our professional training and qualifications gained through our collaboration with the Door and Hardware Federation (DHF). We can provide a risk assessment with recommendations for private individuals, commercial owners/managers and public facilities. Safety is important for all our customers.
As competent persons, Lifestyle Gates are legally obliged to ensure that any powered perimeter gate system we work on is safe and complies with the appropriate regulations. Landlords, commercial property owners or managers of public facilities are also legally required to ensure automated electric gates are safe and compliant with failings being subject to criminal prosecution.
It is worth noting that private residences are also subject to the Health and Safety at Work Act if the property is a place of work for gardners, cleaners or similar workers. To ensure that an automated gate system is safe it must be fitted with appropriate safety equipment or designed in such a way as to eliminate risk of injury and must be routinely serviced and tested to establish that the system is performing as designed and remains safe.
Our aim is to offer transparency, enabling customers to make informed decisions and plan the best course of action when maintaining or repairing electric gates. Our pricing is based on an hourly labour rate and an initial visit or service will be based on the time it takes our engineer to travel to your property and perform an hour of work. This is usually enough time to perform most repairs and servicing and at minimum is sufficient to diagnose a fault. Before attending we will send you a quotation with proposed course of action and any relevant safety information that we believe you should be aware of. If additional work is required, we will again communicate clearly the expected cost. In some situations, we may agree to perform a site visit to allow a quotation before any cost is incurred.
Many years of working with automation manufacturers has allowed us to build strong relationships and establish significant discounts that can be passed on to the customer. Combining these savings with our ability to provide an efficient repair process can often mean that we provide a much better value service than attempting a DIY repair or employing a less qualified alternative.
